Introspective Mentorship

Introspection can be developed like any other capacity—it takes practice, patience, and a willingness to learn. Many people find it easier to stay consistent when they have guidance from someone familiar with the terrain—someone who has practiced themselves and can help them navigate the common detours.

Because everyone differs, the same method won’t serve everyone equally. We each have different natural affinities and blind spots. With an individualized approach, the practice can be shaped around your particular tendencies—so it stays sustainable, clear, and genuine. This is most naturally done through mentorship, which is what I offer here.

How we work together

Major form of interaction
Most of our work happens through call sessions (90≤ minutes). You set the direction for each session. We can clarify questions about the material, explore struggles or curiosities in your current situation, and return to the core principles of introspection.

Call Frequency
Consistency tends to help. I generally recommend meeting 1–2 times per week. The furthest stretch that still works well for most people is once every other week. Beyond that, the momentum often drops and the returns diminish.

Commitment
The overall time frame will depend on how often we meet. You’re welcome to extend the mentorship for as long as it remains useful to you. The minimum commitment is however 12 calls, which gives us enough time to lay a foundation. After that, we can continue and adjust the rhythm as needed.

Outside the sessions

Between sessions, you’ll work through the accompanying material at a manageable pace for you, alongside your day-to-day activities. The dedication you bring during this period will largely shape what you take away from it.

Methodology

The most common way of trying to fix our problems is by dealing with the symptoms. This most often leads to short-term solutions with little or no lasting effect. Part of what I offer here is a different approach: going deeper, straight to the underlying causes, to touch on interpretive patterns you may hold at your core.

Gaining real clarity often means peeling back a few layers. That isn’t always easy to do through isolated reflection alone, especially at the beginning when it’s easy to get caught in your own loops and blind spots. Through dialogue, new angles and options can emerge.

I lean towards an educative approach. I’m not only here to coach or counsel you through your process, but also to share what I know in a transparent way. Where it’s helpful, I’ll bring in perspectives from my experience and study, so that you can better understand what you’re working with and eventually navigate it more independently.

Awareness sets the stage for any real change. We can go for long stretches without really questioning our direction or the habits we find ourselves returning to. Part of this work is getting to know your own ways of being more closely, so that your choices can come from a more authentic place.

Regulation, finding balance and keeping to moderation, tends to get less attention today. I aim to offer perspective that can support your ambitions whilst still keeping to a sustainable way of moving forwards. We can explore tools and practices for regulating behavior, emotion, somatic reactions, and cognitions.

We often develop “masking” behaviors that help us cope in the short term–staying busy, pushing through, shrinking back, or putting on a brave face. They can be useful for a while, but over time they may also keep us stuck, add to our distress, or set us up for setbacks in everyday life. Here, we try to unveil some of these together, so they’re not just running in the background without your consent.

Through value mapping, we explore what you care about, what gives meaning to your choices, and how your actions relate to those values in everyday life. This isn’t about adopting “better” values, but about recognizing your own more clearly—so your decisions can come from a place that feels coherent and authentic.

The mentorship includes a workbook with psychoeducational material.

Introspective practice is the foundation for long lasting change. The story we tell ourselves and our interpretations on events is what drives our behaviors for better or for worst. In the past 12 weeks I have uncovered many “masks” that I thought were the underlying cause of my negative thoughts and emotions only to realize that my core belief was multiple layers beneath the surface.

These stories are deeply rooted, which can be embedded since early childhood. You will learn that this practice is not easy, as it will challenge you to be vulnerable and honest in front of a trusted coach. But it is through all of my dialectical processes that I’ve felt the initial impacts of self discovery, self acceptance, and real transformation.

Working with Marcus has been really rewarding. I have been continuously impressed by his attentiveness and presence during the calls. Marcus' ability to distill our conversations and explain the concepts clearly supported my learning greatly. It was important for me that I never had any reason to question Marcus’ expertise or motives.

Going into the course with Marcus I had a fear that it would cause me to spend too much time in my head. The combination of the chapters and calls quickly made it apparent that I was building a skillset to better observe how I was acting and feeling and as important, why. This is slowly helping me become more conscious of my actions instead of reacting when negative feelings and thoughts occur. Actually allowing me to be more present and less in my head, when it counts.

Working together one-on-one is a real commitment of time, energy, and resources. I’m happy to work with those who feel genuinely motivated to go deeper into self-observational practice.

To apply, fill in the form and include a few details about your current situation, and why you feel this mentorship could support you. If it seems like a good fit, we’ll schedule an initial call to meet.
